Let’s Meet Up to Clean Up! BH Walks, a New Fitness and Community Service Event, Launches March 23

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Downtown Beautification Committee is pleased to announce a new program called BH Walks. During this monthly event, Berkeley Heights residents of all ages will walk downtown to get fit as they help keep downtown clean and attractive for everyone who visits it.

Debra Varnerin of the DBC said, “Berkeley Heights is a great place to live and BH Walks will further foster our feelings of community togetherness. Participants will get in their daily steps while keeping our town looking new and clean. While walking, we can be alert for any street, sidewalk, or other issues that need attention and report them to the Town or County for needed repairs.”

The routes through downtown and adjacent neighborhoods will vary but each guided walk will be approximately 2 miles. DBC will provide gloves and garbage bags to all walkers. BH Walks will also bolster Berkeley Heights’s efforts to qualify for a Safe Routes to School” grant.

The first BH Walks is scheduled for Friday, March 23. Walkers will meet at the Dunkin Donuts by 9:30 a.m. and should expect to return to the starting point by 10:30 a.m. The first 10 people to arrive will receive a free cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. All residents are encouraged to bring their family and friends and enjoy connecting with their neighbors from the Berkeley Heights community.

For a more information and a schedule of future BH Walks events, contact Debbie Varnerin at davarnerin@comcast.net or visit http://www.meetup.com/BHWalks for the upcoming schedule.
