NJDTE Summer Dance Intensive & Young Dancers Program Auditions

NJDTE 2018 SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE

9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Our summer intensive program is designed for the advanced dance student aged 13-17. The program concentrates on strengthening the dancer’s technique with daily classes in ballet, pointe, modern and contemporary dance as well as additional classes in Pilates, yoga, improvisation, floor barre, dance history, anatomy, and lectures with Dr. Harlene Goldschmidt on dance psychology.

Classes are taught by renowned NJDTE faculty, including Nancy Turano (NJDTE Artistic Director), Peter Brandenhoff (Royal Danish Ballet/San Francisco Ballet & Faculty, the Ailey School), Lenore Pavlakos-Morales (Dance Theatre of Harlem), Lynn Glauber-Mandel (The Ailey School),Alexandra Gonzalez (Ballet Hispanico, Gelsey Kirkland Academy), Elizabeth Koeppen-Kalosieh (Parsons Dance), Breton Tyner-Bryan (Sydney Dance Company), Belinda McGuire (Limon Dance Company & Metropolitan Opera Ballet), Bradley Shelver (Metropolitan Opera Ballet & The Ailey School), Brad Beakes (Limon Dance Company), and Patrick Coker (Jessica Lang Dance). Dancers have the opportunity to learn and perform repertory works and work with cutting-edge choreographers, in addition to being an integral part of performance opportunities.

The program runs Monday-Friday. All dancers are released for the weekend on Friday afternoons.

Commuter and resident options available. Resident tuition at the Grand Summit Hotel includes all meals. No meals are included in commuter tuition.

TUITION: US$1850 Commuter + US$35 registration fee | US$2900 Resident + US$35 registration fee

AUDITION DETAILS:

US$30 audition fee

  • Resume – include full name, date of birth, training/years of experience in ballet, modern and pointe techniques, as well as a list of instructors and any awards received
  • Photos – tendu a la seconde and first arabesque at 90 degrees            

**Photos may be informal snapshots taken in a studio (preferred) or at home, but proper attire is required: black leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers, hair in a bun.

If you are unable to attend one of the auditions, a video audition is acceptable. Video submission and paperwork are due no later than March 1. To submit a video audition, please follow these instructions in addition to sending the information listed above:

Video audition: 10 minutes maximum

  • Upload to YouTube as a private video and email link to info@njdte.org.
  • Video must include:
    1.    Brief verbal self-introduction (name and age)
    2.    Technique:
    -Ballet Barre – tendu/degage, adagio
    -Ballet Center – pirouettes, petit allegro and grande allegro
    -Modern Phrase or short modern/contemporary solo

 

 

YOUNG DANCERS PROGRAM

JUNE 25 – JULY 13, 2018 *OFF JULY 4 | MONDAY-FRIDAY
9:15 AM – 2:00 PM

This summer intensive program for dancers ages 7-12 focuses on ballet and modern techniques and includes an introduction to yoga, Pilates, dance history, improvisation and repertoire. Each day includes two technique classes, repertory and more, all with renowned NJDTE faculty. There is a half hour lunch break.

TUITION: US$1500 + US$35 registration fee

AUDITION DETAILS:
