My name is Tom Foregger and I am running for a 3-year seat on the Berkeley Heights Board of Education because I am concerned about the quality of the education our schools are providing.

I have lived in town for 45 years and have a son who graduated from Governor Livingston High School. I have a Ph.D in mathematics and am retired from a successful career at Bell Labs and Lucent, where I was a ...

Berkeley Heights is Better Together with Yellin & Medeiros

Dear neighbors,

As we have seen with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, Berkeley Heights shows what we are made of when the time calls to help each other. As we’ve visited areas hit hard by the flooding, we’ve seen and heard how neighbors are helping each other out, while our First Responders continued to make us proud by working round-the-clock to ...

Pamela Stanley for BOE: Bringing Community Together

My name is Pamela Stanley and I am seeking your vote to serve on the Berkeley Heights Board of Education. My husband and I have been raising two children (5 and 9) here for the past ten years. When I was deciding to run, all my reasons came back to the fact that I love Berkeley Heights and want to see it thrive. I did not grow up in a community like this. Sometimes we can start to take these ...

Addressing Mr. Reinstein’s and Mr. D’Aquila’s comments regarding Varley’s contract

September 18, 2021

Because I had questions, I requested the data and findings of the competitive benchmarking process the BH BOE had done in regard to Varley’s contract approval at this Sept 23rd BOE meeting.  I am still waiting on that information but in the interim I did my own research.  I’d be happy to share my data and findings with anyone who wants to see it.  Here is some insight I ...

Good Evening Mayor Devanney and members of the Town Council.

My name is Ritu Chandra and I have been a resident of Berkeley Heights for the last 13 years.  During that time, Columbia Park has been a hub of my daily ...

Councilman Yellin

I wanted to comment on Councilman Yellin's Letter to the Editor. He states that it did not cost the township any money for the attorney to work on his proposal. The attorney works on a retainer that is used to reimburse him for any work he does for the town. If at the end of the year it is unused, the money comes back to us the taxpayers. I do not know what world he lives in, ...

Why Are Stinging Insects So Aggressive in the Fall?

During the early summer months, hornets and yellow jackets rarely come out and sting people. So why do they become so aggressive during the late summer and fall? The reason has to do with how they spend their time in the summer versus what they’re doing in the fall!

The Life of A Stinging Insect

Most stinging insects are social, meaning they start and build a new colony every year ...

On May 4, 2022, shoppers in Union County and throughout New Jersey will be in for a shock when they go to check out their groceries at the supermarket. Not a single-use paper or plastic shopping bag will be in sight.

It’s all part of a new state law aimed at cutting down on waste, litter and pollution. Plastic bags get most of the blame, but single-use paper bags are also notorious for ...
