The team runs as a cooperative effort of swimmers, coaches, professional Y staff, and parents. “As a competitive swim program, our goal is to offer a high quality program that enables team members to develop their full potential as individuals and athletes. We promote character development, good sportsmanship and competitive success in a constructive team environment,” commented Laura Riddell, Summit YMCA Director of Competitive Aquatics.

The team has year-round training at the Summit YMCA’s 6-lane, 25-yard pool, complete with state-of-the-art Colorado Timing System. Training moves outdoors in the summer to a 50 meter long course Olympic size pool. Swimmers participate in dual meets, YMCA championships, as well as USA Swim meets.

The Summit Area YMCA swim team embodies the YMCA’s philosophy of building a healthy body, mind, and spirit. Swimmers are encouraged to maximize their potential. Participation will build confidence, develop leadership skills, and help athletes set and achieve goals.
