Summit Junior Fortnightly Club's First New Member Meeting

New Members Welcome:

Joining SJFC provides an opportunity to build lasting friendships on a foundation of common values and shared experiences. We meet monthly, September through May, in the historic Twin Maples House in Summit, NJ. These meetings are our platform for planning events and volunteer activities, socializing, and hearing from local speakers on topics of interest. SJFC offers flexibility within a framework that allows our members to get involved at the level and frequency they choose – from simply participating in volunteer and social activities to leading event committees or chairing signature events. About SJFC Summit Junior Fortnightly Club (SJFC) is a 501(c)3 women’s social and service organization dedicated to volunteerism and fundraising, with a focus on improving the welfare of families and children within our communities. The SJFC experience is a special one. While our membership is diverse, we all share a core belief in assisting those who can benefit from a helping hand (and in having fun and building friendships in the process). “Summit” is in our name, but you don’t have to be a Summit resident to join. Our members hail from many neighboring communities as well, including New Providence, Chatham and Berkeley Heights.

Contact Information:

SJFC is always open to new members. If you are interested in checking out the club, contact Molly Stassfurth at mordstass@verizon.net or Shelly Davies at michelle.davies1000@gmail.com

Taxes up, Services down.....At least someone is listening

Do you feel as if you are getting good services from the town for what you pay in property taxes? I don’t, and wanted to thank the one Council person who voted NO on this year’s municipal budget which will increase your taxes by more than 3 percent, exceeding the cap.  Thank you, Susan Poage, for listening to taxpayers.

When our Mayor grants raises by executive order ...

Who Is Dmitriy?

Who Is Dmitriy?

That is the question I asked myself in the past year or two. I first chanced across him online in community conversation. When an issue seemed to go nowhere, people starting to get ugly and nasty, personal attacks escalating, in would pop Dmitriy and with one comment, he could sum things up. He based his  opinion on information he knew, coupled with what he could glean ...

Don’t Make These Three Mistakes About Social Security

Social Security has been around for decades and it’s not about to disappear. Why? Social Security is not an entitlement ("gift") that can be taken away - it’s a forced savings scheme that Americans pay into in their working years in order to secure a pension for life. Ideally, Social Security should not be your sole source of income in retirement but even comfortable ...
