Philip J. Sapienza of Berkeley Heights, NJ passed away peacefully at home in Berkeley Heights at the age of 104.

Philip was born and raised in Newark, NJ to Rose (nee Engo) and Joseph Sapienza. A decorated World War II Army veteran, serving in the Normandy Beach campaign in France, he also fought in England, Belgium, and Iceland.
Until recently, he was the oldest active member of the American Legion and was a member of the Warren Post 293. He was also a member of the Elks of Stirling and the Lyons club of Union, NJ.
A hairdresser and barber by trade, giving his first haircut at the age of 10. He owned Philip Hair Dresser in Union, NJ where he happily serviced the people of Union. He lived life to the fullest, he loved everyone and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed.
Philip is survived by his cherished daughter Linda Tinnirella; his grandchildren, Myrza Tinnirella, Lucy Tinnirella-Cardinali; and his great grandchildren Isabella DiLello, Michael DiLello, Vincenzo DiLello and William Cardinali III. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Myrza Lyons and his siblings, Jean Caponetti, Marie Radel, Rose Merlo and Dominic Sapienza.
