BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Thousands are expected to flock to Springfield Avenue in downtown Berkeley Heights from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 for the inaugural Berkeley Heights Block Party. The event showcases the best of the town, with activities, food, music and crafts for the entire family.
The Summer Block Party is presented by Primrose School of Berkeley Heights and organized by the Berkeley Heights Business & Civic Association in conjunction with the Berkeley Heights Recreation Commission. Local businesses, restaurants, food trucks, non-profit organizations, clubs, churches and scout groups will all be present providing free activities and an afternoon of fun for families.
Among the activities provided will be electronic game trucks, inflatable moonwalk, obstacle course and giant slide, a dunk tank, water balloon toss, photo booth, electric scooters, face painting, giant Jenga game, photo ops with a balloon character, hole in one golf, and baseball speed pitch. There will also be [inflatable] ax throwing and a demonstration by local Ninja Warrior Anthony DeFranco and much more.
"Entertainment will be featured on the main stage with Zumba, Standing Yoga and Body Combat demonstrations provided by the Berkeley Heights YMCA," said co-chair Paul Neuwirth of Taylor Rental. "A dance performance will be presented by Pure Movement Dance Center and a Chinese cultural demonstration will be presented by Hans Academy, both of Berkeley Heights."
The Block Party, similar to the popular Winter Walk, will showcase why Berkeley Heights is ranked as a top New Jersey town to live. The charm that makes Berkeley Heights a wonderful place to live will be on display.
"The event is still looking for local organizations and clubs to sponsor an activity," said co-chairman Dr. Patrick Smith of Smith Chiropractic. All groups are asked to provide a free activity that the public - and kids - can enjoy. Click here for application.
