BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Dr. Patrick Smith announced the first round of winners from the Berkeley Heights Cares prizes for taking the pledge to help keep businesses open and our community safe. Click to learn more and take the pledge.
The Berkeley Heights Business and Civic in partnership with TAPinto Berkeley Heights has launched a program to engage the community and thank them for helping to keep the businesses open and community safe by wearing a face mask when entering businesses, practice social distancing, and continue to be diligent in washing hands and sanitizing during this pandemic time.
We know BH Cares! Dozens of local businesses are participating by hanging a poster in their storefront, and by donating gift cards and prizes towards the “BH Cares Pledge free BH swag drawings,” said Dr. Smith. Click here to read his letter to the community.
The first round of prizes are being presented to the first five people to take the pledge. Prizes can be picked up at Smith Chiropractic located at 134 Snyder Avenue in Berkeley Heights.
Winners and prizes:
- Karen Ayres, $50 gift card to Goodman's Restaurant and Deli
- Pam Yoss, $25 gift card to Dimaios, donated by Berkeley Heights Physical Therapy
- Karen Kassels, $30 gift card to Taylor Rental
- Kaitlyn Thornton, $25 gift card to Berkeley Hardware
- Jesicca Lesperance, Mani/Pedi at Bella Bella nail salon.
The BHB&C will continue to give away "Berkeley Heights Swag" in their weekly drawing for five winners. To be entered, take the BH Cares Pledge. The prizes have been donated by the businesses as a thank you to the community for doing your part in keeping businesses open and the community safe.
In a message from Mayor Angie Devanney, she stressed the importance of masking up when in public. So, in addition to wearing the mask when entering businesses, she asks parents to "please impress upon your children the importance of wearing masks. We are witnessing too many younger residents walking in large groups, close together, without masks – in downtown shopping areas, at Snyder Park, or walking after school together. I understand the difficulty of this task as I am the mother of an older teen and pre-teen. However, they need to know that they too are vulnerable to this virus."
In that regard, Dr. Smith said the BHB&C will be rolling out a program that will engage the youth. (Hint: Kids, take the pledge to be entered into drawings!)
