BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Thousands of residents of Berkeley Heights and surrounding communities attended the inaugural Berkeley Heights Block Party, where local restaurants, businesses, community organizations, attractions, music, and street performances were all featured.

Organized by the Berkeley Heights Business and Civic (BHBC) organization in conjunction with the Berkeley Heights Recreation Department.  Thanks to Primrose School of Berkeley Heights as presenting sponsor along with several business sponsors, Springfield Avenue came alive to kick off the summer.

The Block Party showcased local businesses and organizations with roughly 70 restaurants, businesses, and community organizations participating.

Event chairs, Dr. Patrick Smith of Smith Chiropractic and Paul Neuwirth of Taylor Rental, envisioned this as a way to bring the community to downtown and welcome visitors to town, making them aware that Berkeley Heights is a thriving great community.

Canopies lined the street with food vendors, and businesses with give aways and activities such as [inflatable] axe throwing, a giant inflatable slide and bounce house, game trucks, obstacle course, as well as Berkeley Heights' own American Ninja Warrior Anthony DeFranco was on hand, a giant rock wall, dunk tank, a balloon toss, and dance performances from Pure Movement and demonstrations from Han Academy and the Berkeley Heights YMCA, to name a few attractions.

Alongside them were community organizations such as Relay for Life; local Boys Scouts; Fire, Rescue Squad and Police Departments; Silver Liming Foundation; VFW; Mt. Carmel Society; Union County; Girls on the Run; and many organizations and Township committees promoted their upcoming events.

The BHBC thanks the event sponsors and volunteers who helped to make the inaugural Berkeley Heights Block Party a huge success.
