BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Board of Education member Denis Smalley will not seek re-election to the board this year, guaranteeing there will be at least one new face on the board following the November election. There will be three, three-year seats open on the board and five candidates.

Two incumbents, Robert Cianciulli and Helen Kirsch, will be on the ballot. Also filing were former Township Councilman Michael D’Aquila, as well as  Shengwu Du, and Angela Penna, making this a highly contested election.

Smalley said, “I have elected not to run in the upcoming BOE elections.
