The Campaign of Manny Couto and Gentiana Brahimaj is disheartened to read the most recent campaign statement by the Democrat candidates Julie Figlar and Rina Franchino.  The statement that our campaign has been “mudslinging” is false and we would ask for a public retraction. The definition of mudslinging is the use of insults or accusations, especially unjust ones, with the aim of damaging the reputation of an opponent.  Hard questions about policy positions or facts are not insults.

Manny and Gentiana have been working hard, meeting residents, listening to their concerns, attending events, and collaborating with neighboring towns.  Our campaign motto is to work hard with integrity and put Berkeley Heights First.

Manny and Gentiana have been dragged through the mud on Facebook forums with graphics going through their faces, their campaign page has been trolled, and their opponent’s flashing electronic billboard showed up numerous times at their event.  Manny and Gentiana chose to take the high road and deal with the issues on their own, in private, and not advertise on Facebook or TAPinto.
