We’re Susan Poage and Bret Sayre, and we’re asking for your support to serve you on the Berkeley Heights Township Council (or to keep serving you, in Susan’s case).

We are living in historic times. Our nation and our town face unprecedented challenges. Your vote has never been so important. Nationally, we are in a battle for the soul of our country. Here in Berkeley Heights, the pandemic created an economic crisis for our business community and had a tremendous impact on so many residents, senior citizens and families.

We need to move forward with the Right Priorities – bringing financial experience, community engagement and strong solutions forward so that we emerge stronger than ever. Rather than attacking a group of fellow Berkeley Heights residents, as our opponents did, we want to use our first statement to talk about how we can best keep moving Berkeley Heights forward.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

We’ve publicly unveiled where we stand on the issues you’ve told us matter to you, and will be sending you details on those issues in the mail in the weeks ahead. Some of our key issues are:

  • Fiscal Responsibility. We will work to produce a municipal budget that maximizes the use of grant dollars and effectively utilizes shared services to make government more efficient.
  • Economic Revitalization. We have laid out a multi-point program (T.H.R.I.V.E.) to re-energize and sustain our businesses for the long-term. Check it out: https://poageandsayreforbh.com/the-issues/thrive/
  • Infrastructure Improvements. We will highlight and improve recreation programs for all ages, look to offer better garbage pickup services, and continue work on roads, sidewalks and drainage efforts by seeking alternate financing through grants and low-interest loans.
  • Local Heroes Program. Our first responders play an enormous role in protecting the citizens of Berkeley Heights, volunteering their time and energy to serve and protect us all. We will look to create a new, long-lasting partnership among the Township, our first responder groups, local businesses and YMCA in order to make sure our town is properly supported for years to come.
  • And much more!
