BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ -- Don’t miss the second FREE Summer Concert in Veterans Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 31 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This week, bring your family, friends and neighbors to hear “The Idol Kings” playing the best songs from Tom Petty, John Cougar Mellencamp, Journey and more!
At the event, the Township will have a table set up for residents to chat with Township officials about any topics of interest and, specifically, the upcoming Master Plan. Our Township Planner will also be in attendance on Wednesday night; he can answer questions relating to the Master Plan, as well as get your ideas about what kinds of community elements you would like to see in our downtown areas. As the Master Plan process continues, there will be many opportunities for residents to learn about and provide input.
A Master Plan outlines a community’s vision of its future and the process to realize that vision. At its core, the Master Plan forms the policy foundation for the Township’s land use regulations and planning decisions and serves as a guide for elected officials, municipal staff, business owners, community residents, and potential investors to make informed decisions in community development affecting land use, transportation, natural resources, and other factors that shape our environment and quality of life.
Public participation and stakeholder input are key to a successful Master Plan. Throughout the year, the Township will be holding different public events to gather the community’s thoughts on the vision for Berkeley Heights and the specific issues and opportunities facing the Township. The input from community outreach will be incorporated into the Master Plan, and the community will be invited to review and provide comment on draft documents before the Master Plan’s final adoption.
