The New Providence Police Department and Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to be familiar with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife safety tips in case you should encounter one.

Bears are attracted by garbage odors, therefore, properly securing your garbage is one of the best ways to prevent bears from becoming a nuisance in your neighborhood.
