BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Township’s second electronics recycling day will be next Saturday, April 6, at the Department of Public Works yard. 

Berkeley Heights residents can conveniently recycle their outdated or unwanted electronic equipment that cannot be disposed of in the regular garbage. Please bring your ID to prove residency. 

Hours: 9 am-12 noon.

Location: DPW yard, located at 101 Berkeley Ave., (behind Town Hall, off of Park Ave). 

Items covered by New Jersey law that will be accepted for recycling include:

  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Monitors
  • Laptops
  • Tablets
  • E-readers
  • Printers
  • Copy machines
  • Fax machines

Please do not bring items not on this list as they will not be accepted.  

“Our first e-recycling day this year was a huge success – despite the fact that we were digging out of a snow storm that morning,” said Mayor Angie Devanney. “People are anxious to responsibly and conveniently get rid of their old electronics. We are happy to be able to provide this service to our residents and increase our recycling tonnage going forward.”

Refrigerators, washers and dryers, microwaves, and air conditioners will not be accepted.  Please save them for Union County’s Scrap Metal Recycling Program. Along with electronics, residents can also bring their #6 Styrofoam, free of any tape, stickers or other adhesives. A large blue bin will be located at the DPW. The following items are acceptable: 

  • White clean foam
  • Furniture & appliance packaging foam
  • Block form foam

Items not accepted include:

  • Egg cartons
  • Food service foam
  • Peanuts or cardboard
  • Dirty or wet foam
  • Dark colored foam
