BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The 8th Annual Berkeley Heights Fire Department Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the fire house was a huge success. This late summer evening brings together a multi-generational crowd for an evening of conversation among first responders, neighbors, friends, politicians, and community leaders.
The tables are known not to turn over quickly because the supporters like to hang out with their family and friends -- and the evening didn't dissapoint. Area fire departments also supported their Berkeley Heights brothers.
The kitchen was hustling with members of the volunteer department cooking and serving out the spaghetti and meatballs, salad and bread to the guests. Diners brought their own beer and wine, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends, family and neighbors.
With the fire trucks lined up and equipment on display, the children could receive tours and a chance to sit in the fire truck. Parents and grandparents enjoyed the smiles and photo opportunites.
The evening included a 50/50 drawing and several guests went home as a raffle winner of the many donations by local businesses. Along with many business sponsorships, Dr. Patrick Smith came to present the department with his annual donation of $1,000 from the Smith Chiropractic Foundation.
Proceeds from the evening benefit the Berkeley Heights Fire Department Company #1 and is their largest fundraising event of the year.
