NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — At 7 a.m. on Easter morning, Faith Lutheran Church of New Providence held a brief online service, which included the lighting of the Paschal Candle, in its memorial garden.
At 10 a.m., Faith celebrated that Jesus Christ had risen, with an online festival service. Faith’s pastor, Rev. Jane McCready, with the assistance of Faith’s Pastoral Associate, Rev. Robert Kriesat, and Faith’s Ministry Associate, Sally Reier, conducted the liturgy of the service. Pastor McCready preached the sermon, the theme of which was "Living Faith".
During the prior week, members and friends of Faith were invited to come to the church and pick up all-in-one holy communion kits, which were placed in the narthex for easy retrieval. The process enabled attendees of the online service to experience and celebrate the Holy Eucharist, notwithstanding the restrictions of the pandemic.

Adding to the festivity of the service was its music, which was planned and led by Faith’s Minister of Music, Shea Velloso. The music focused on joy. The hymns were Jesus Christ is Risen Today, The Day of Resurrection and Thine is the Glory. The Sanctuary Choir sang a joyous anthem, God’s Right Hand and Holy Arm. Faith’s Hand Bell Ringers played a piece entitled Easter Song.
Enhancing the service’s music were instrumentalists; a trumpeter, a trombonist, a timpanist and Mr. Velloso on the organ.
