BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights PAL wrestling opened their North Jersey league season with a match against the combined Chatham-Summit-New Providence team. Despite drawing only from one school district the Berkeley Heights matman were victorious over the combined squad.

Nick Schiano got BHPAL on the board with a 15-0 technical fall win at 58 pounds. Following a pair of victories by the opposition, Berkeley Heights ran off six straight wins between 86 pounds and 118 pounds with victories by Christian Sabatino, Jace Wanca, Henrique Ribeiro, Cristian Gioia, Jack Dally and Marcelllo Caminiti. The combined three town team was able to come back to win the next two bouts before Berkeley Heights ended the night with three straight victories by Joe Dasti (135), Jake Kriesberg (147) and Nate Faxon (Heavyweight.) The final score was Berkeley Heights 54, Chatham/Summit/New Providence 24.

The PAL wrestlers also entered a pair of early season tournaments: the Pitman Holiday Classic and the prestigious Old Bridge Santa Showdown which featured over 800 youth wrestlers! Placing in the top 3 in both tourneys were: Cristian Gioia, Joe Dasti, Nate Faxon and Christian Sabatino. Medaling in at least one tourney were: Brandon Rayack (1st place at Pitman), Grant Young, Thomas DiNorscio, Tommy Fettes, James Daoulbani, John Lopes, Michael Daoulbani, James Daoulbani and Marcello Caminiti. Berkeley Heights won the team title in the 13 and over division of the Pitman tourney taking 1st place out of 21 teams.

The Berkeley Heights PAL grapplers are next in action as part of Fantastic Friday. The boys will face off against Long Valley at 5:30pm in the Blue Gym at Governor Livingston High School.
