Congratulations to the Berkeley Heights Rovers (U11 Boys Soccer Team) who won the 39th Annual 2019 Piscataway Fall Classic Tournament this past weekend.

This was the Rovers 3rd consecutive appearance in the event and for the first time as a U11 team were eligible for a championship run.  In their inaugural showing at the Fall Classic in the 9v9 format, the key to their dominance was the head coach’s unique starting formation and their ability to find the back of the net with a staggering 24 goals.  The boys played 4 games in 2 days and were defensively very tough as well, posting 1 clean sheet in the opener and only conceding 4 goals in the remaining 3 games.

Competing in a field of 30 teams from across the Garden State, the Rovers were placed in the top flight.  The opening games on Saturday featured familiar foes, the Elizabeth YSC Turbos and Piscataway SC Bayern Munich, both of whom they’ve had some competitive games with in the past.  The result this time would be much different, they dealt the Turbos a 6-0 defeat and posted a 7-1 victory over Bayern.  In their first game on Sunday the Rovers would defeat Westfield SA Real Betis by a score of 5-1, setting up an end of day showdown with Cranford SC Impact.  The Rovers would persist in their weekend supremacy with a 6-2 triumph over the Impact.

The Berkeley Heights Rovers were declared the U11 champions, giving these boys from Berkeley Heights a weekend to remember as they each hoisted their championship trophy.  The players, coaches and families of Berkeley Heights would like to thank the tournament volunteers at Piscataway for an extremely well run tournament in its 39th year.
