BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Former Gov. Livingston Highlander Quinn Haddad (2018), a current sophomore wrestler at the College of New Jersey, was a national contender ranked 11th in DIII.
Haddad placed first in the Mideast regional at 197 pounds. In the Mideast regional, Haddad took his first two matches with a tech. fall and a major decision. He fell behind Dylan Dubuque of SUNY Cortland in the championship's semifinal before escaping and taking down Dubuque late in the first period. He would go on to outscore his opponent 13-7 to advance to the regional final. Haddad became a first time National Contender when his finals match opponent,Luca Colestock (Muhlenberg) was forced to forfeit due to injury.
He was headed to the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. However, amid the coronavirus concerns, the NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships were canceled this past weekend.
Haddad was riding a 15-match winning streak and had racked up bonus points in 11 of his 15 matches during his win streak.
While at Gov. Livingston, in addition to being a four year varsity wrestling athlete, Haddad lettered in football, golf and baseball.
