BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Collectively, this Gov. Livingston baseball senior class was set up to destroy their competition. The memory of all playing together going back to their freshman year is one to remember.

This memory of freshman year is a highlight for senior infielder Jeremy Malave. "It was one of the last games of the season, against Elizabeth. Coach got all the freshmen on the team, even Sean McCulloch, who was on JV at the time, so we can all play together. We collectively destroyed them 12-0 and it was just a really fun game, where everyone was smiling and having a great time."

This would’ve been Malave's first season on the Varsity. "At the time of when we left school/practice, Jeremy was battling with some other players for playing time in the infield," said Gov. Livingston head baseball coach Chris Roof. "In a short time I was really impressed by his athletic ability. So it doesn’t surprise me that Jeremy is a throwback in a sense where he’s a three sport athlete. If you look around in HS athletics you just don’t see that anymore unfortunately. Jeremy had both a wonderful soccer and hockey season this past year. I wish Jeremy nothing but success while playing soccer and continuing his studies in college."

"Having the chance to wear the GL uniform is super special. It has always been a dream of mine and many others to have the opportunity to wear the GL uniform and contribute in some way," said Malave.

TAPinto: What is your favorite youth highlight?

Jeremy: One of my favorite youth moments was when I was playing club baseball for this team called the Mustangs. The Mustangs had teams my age (8u), the year under (7u) and the year above (9u). There was this one weekend where the team above needed an extra kid and they asked me to come up and play with them, so I did. I knew all the kids on the team very well because I grew up with all of them so the chemistry was certainly there. The team was made up of young studs like Drew Compton, JD Armstrong, Kyle Hess and a bunch others. When I arrived I remember all the boys were really excited that I was playing with them and the environment when we  played was unforgettable and I will never forget that.

TAPinto: How are you doing during this period of COVID-19 isolation?

Jeremy: I’m doing well in isolation. I’ve been weight lifting nonstop to stay in shape and to keep me occupied.

TAPinto: What will be the first thing you do once restrictions are lifted?

Jeremy: The first thing I’ll do once restrictions are lifted is meet up with all my friends and spend the whole day together.
