Union County-based charity to hold 5K in Oak Ridge Park on October 6th and Golf outing at Galloping Hill Golf Course on October 7th

UNION COUNTY, NJ---The Ryan Patrick Faella Foundation, a charity organization based in Mountainside that awards scholarships and raises money for youth activities, will be hosting two fundraising events this October in Kenilworth and Clark.

The first event will be held on Sunday, October 6th---a 5K Run/Walk at Oak Ridge Park, Clark. Proceeds will be donated toPrevention Links, the community prevention division.   The event, including registration, runs from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The day also includes a tot trot and activities for children.  For more information, registration and a full schedule go to: https://www.ryanfaellafoundation.org/5krunwalk

On Monday, October 7th, the annual golf outing will be held at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth. The Ryan Patrick Faella Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is committed to providing financial aid scholarships, incentives and /or grants to qualified individuals and tax-exempt organizations for furthering their careers in areas such as arts, education, history, science, literature and athletics. The foundation is registered as a Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States.
The Ryan Patrick Faella Foundation was established in memory of Ryan Patrick Faella, a thirteen-year-old boy, from Mountainside, who passed away in 2000. Since 2001, over $125,000 has been provided toward scholarships and youth-based activities.
Previous scholarship winners have performed volunteer work throughout the country, peer counseling programs, and obtained advanced degrees in many different professions.
Some of the organizations who received funding in the past from the Ryan Patrick Faella Foundation include: the United Youth of NJ, Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, Family and Children Services, Mountainside Library
The organization was founded by Alfred Faella, the former Union County Manager, and his wife Mary, Speech-Language Pathologist, both natives of Elizabeth who currently reside in Mountainside. John Amalfe, nephew of former Freeholder Anthony Amalfe, is also a founder and continued supporter.
