KENILWORTH, NJ - Gov. Livingston keeped its county tournament hopes alive yesterday with a dominant 172-232 win over Brearley. Sophomore Chris Caccamo’s career low 40 stroke effort led the Highlanders, who now need two more straight wins to participate in the Union County Tournament.

No GL golfer shot lower than 50 at Galloping Hill nine hole course Tuesday afternoon. Behind Caccamo was junior Peyton Hopeck with 42 strokes, followed by sophomore Evan Accardi, freshman Thomas Burke, and senior Dominick Pellegrini, who shot 44, 45, and 46, respectively. GL’s score was capped off with 48 strokes by senior Danny Sullivan. Caccamo, Hopeck, Accardi, and Burke’s scores were used for GL’s total of 172.

For Brearley, John Braun was the only golfer to shoot better than 60, as he had a nice day with 46 strokes. Lucas Minio and Thomas Pugliese each shot 61, and Frank Pizzi and Anthony Campanelli shot 64.

GL now only needs to beat Union Catholic and Arthur L. Johnson to qualify for the county tournament. The Highlanders have already beaten ALJ this season, but only by 7 strokes. GL now turns its attention to UC, whom they will face off with on Wednesday afternoon.
