Sciaccitano began the second half swiftly, knocking in her third goal to give GL a 3-0 lead. Senior keeper Sarah Foy played a phenomenal game in net, easily saving the limited number of shot attempts from the opposition. Foy, who was pulled late in the game to give sophomore Vicky Lama some time in goal, ran off the field to a standing ovation.

After head coach Mike Roof pulled out most of his seniors, the underclassmen stepped up, and played the same style at the same high level that the seniors had been playing at for the last few years. Before the final seconds ticked off the clock, freshman Lauren McCauley knocked in GL’s fourth goal off of a tremendous cross, giving the Highlanders a 4-0 win. That lead would hold out, giving GL a four goal win, and improving its record to 10-0 on the year.

In her first year on varsity, Sciacchitano’s team finished with a 9-10-1 record. In her last two years, the team has a record of 31-4, including a state championship. A four goal blowout win is a testament to the senior class being able to turn the program around and make it one of the powerhouse teams at GL. The girls travel to Caldwell on Saturday at 10:00 am on Saturday for an out of conference matchup, where they will look to remain undefeated at the out of conference matchup.
