BELMAR, NJ — The annual Belmar Sol 5K will be held on Saturday, August 26, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Ocean Avenue at Lake Como.
Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to participate in the run/walk, which benefits the Belmar Recreation Department. As part of the event’s “Beat the Mayor Challenge,” a donation will be made to Belmar’s Police Unity Tour for every runner who crosses the finish line before Mayor Matt Doherty.
The Belmar Sol 5K kicks off at North Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, where participants will circle Lake Como and return to Ocean Avenue, and then head north on the boardwalk until reaching the Fifth Avenue ramp at Taylor Pavilion. There, they will turn around and continue south along Ocean Avenue until reaching the finish line between 17th and 18th Avenues, where post-race festivities will be hosted by D’Jais Bar & Grill.
All finishers will get a Belmar Sol race medal and one free refreshment ticket for D’Jais. Awards will be given to all male and female participants who place first, second and third in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over.
Registration is $30, and the deadline to sign up is Friday, August 25 at 11:59 p.m. Packets can be picked from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 25 at D’Jais, 1801 Ocean Avenue, and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. on race day.
Parking will be available on all side streets on race day, but prohibited on Ocean Avenue.
