MONTCLAIR, NJ – Bloomfield High School Girls Varsity Basketball got back in the win column with a 56-35 triumph over the Mounties on Tuesday evening at Montclair High School.
After the Bengal girls lost to highly-ranked University Phoenix High School of Newark 59-36 in a Super Essex Conference – American Division game last Friday at Bloomfield High School, the girls bounced back in a big way in another division game.
Bloomfield led wire-to-wire, including a 27-4 lead after the first quarter and a 41-16 lead at halftime.

The Bengals led by as many as 30 points at the end of the third quarter before the substitutes came in during the final stanza, ending with a 21-point Bloomfield victory.
Junior Samantha Columna led Bloomfield with 16 points, while senior Sarah Edmond had 13 points and freshman Chiara Hilario scored 10.
For the Mounties, senior Birgitta Taylor-Lilliquist picked up a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.
The Bengals improve to 5-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in the division.  Montclair drops to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the division.

The girls return to action when they travel to Millburn High School for another division matchup this Thursday, January 10 at 4:00 pm.  The Millers are 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the division.
