BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield Cruisers rev up their 2017 Season with a 'Poker Run' on Sunday April 9 throughout the township. The three hour fundraising event, combining the best elements of a road rally, poker, and fun, will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Despite the name, the run really isn't about poker, it just a great way for Cruisers to take their ride out for a spin on a Spring afternoon. Participants of the event will gather at a pre-determined location. From there they will follow a pre-determined route through the township with card stops along the way. At each stop the driver will pick a card, at the end of the run, the driver with the best hand wins.
Carlos Pomares told TAPinto Bloomfield that the Cruisers are about more than automobiles. This year will be the third year that they sponsor an American Little League Team (the 'Bloomfield Cruisers.') The group will also start a project in which they will restore the oldest car in Bloomfield. That vehicle belonged to the Oakes family and is currently in storage at the Bloomfield Oakeside Cultural Center. The Bloomfield Cruisers recently formalized their status as a non-for-profit organization.
Pomares explained that he hopes to start collecting slightly used bikes, recondition them, and get them into the hands of other kids who want to cruise Bloomfield with pedal power.
The Poker Run is $30.00 per person which includes a 2 hour buffet and beer/wine/soda).
