BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- On Tuesday, November 21st, the Bloomfield Cultural Commission (BCC) will host its 5th Annual Bloomfield’s Most Talented Competition. It will take place at 7:00 pm at the Bloomfield High School Auditorium, and feature a diverse range of performances, including singing, dancing, and stand up comedy performances by individuals or groups. All performers must live, work, or go to school in Bloomfield. This event is open to the public. Category-specific, and overall Winners and Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, and receive trophies.
Last year’s competition selected an Overall Winner, as well as winners and finalists for the categories of Singing, Dancing, and Miscellaneous, which included several stand up comedians, and a Rubik’s Cube challenge. Performing in the Most Talented Competition is no one-off feat. To be featured, performers must be selected during their audition, and be available for a Dress Rehearsal on Monday, November 20th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The two audition dates are Monday, November 13th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, and Thursday, November 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. All acts must be four (4) minutes or less. Performers using recorded music or props must bring provide their own.
The BCC will donate $100 to the library of the Bloomfield Public School that has the largest number of participants in the audition process. Last year Demarest School received this donation.
“The Department of Recreation and the BCC are always looking for innovative ways to showcase the homegrown artistic talent in Bloomfield,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Michael Sceurman, who also serves as Master of Ceremonies for the Most Talented Competition. “This event has grown in popularity over the years and has become a great opportunity for our community, students and adults, to hone their craft. On behalf of the BCC, I look forward to seeing a diverse range of acts and performers in our auditions and ultimately, the competition.”
The BCC has been active in Bloomfield since 1976, ensuring there are venues for the arts in Bloomfield, and the financial assistance to help these endeavors thrive.
