BLOOMFIELD, NJ- Wednesday's game between the Bengals and Verona Hillbillies featured two of the county's best pitchers in FDU bound Manny Corporon and Southern New Hampshire bound Ian Metzger. Both Metzger and Corporon did not disappoint as they were both dominant. Each pitcher faced 25 batters as the game was 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th. Junior Rob Reboa reached on a fielders choice and was pinch ran for by junior Jon Gugliamino. That’s when Bloomfield’s Kyle Tice stepped to the plate and delivered a double of the left center field fence to score Gugliamino all the way from first base as the game winning run, . Corporon finished the game with 7 strikeouts while only allowing 2 hits.
The Bengals will be taking on Glen Ridge at home Friday evening at 7PM. On Saturday evening the Bengals will be taking on Bayonne at 7PM at home as well. Prior to that game Bloomfield will be honoring all former all state players with plaques before the game.
