BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield Fire Department and Nutley HazMat team responded to the area of Watchung and Broad Street this afternoon in response to broken hydraulic fluid line on a street sweeper. The New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection also responded. 

Hydraulic fluid from a broken line spilled onto the street as the street sweeper was moving, The driver did not immediately realize the line was leaking leaving a trail of hydraulic fluid on Broad Street, Johnson Avenue, Watchung Avenue, and Broughton Avenue to Palmer. 

Crews are cleaning the scene. Nutley Deputy Fire Chief Paul Cafone expects to have more detailed information to share later this evening. Shauger, the operator of the sweeper had no comment for TAPinto when contacted.
