Myrtle Beach, SC-- Ethan Guzman, an 8-year-old Bloomfield resident, loves to wrestle. So much so that he entered the NuWay Southeast Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The tournament, attended by wrestlers from all across the country, took place from July 29-31 at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
New Jersey has a national reputation as a strong wrestling state and Ethan surely didn't disappoint, placing 4th in his weight class. Ethan, who wrestles for Bloomfield during the season, went with his club wrestling team, Colòn Trained Wrestling School in Belleville, NJ, coached by a Filiberto Colòn. Colòn was a Belleville Standout wrestler who held the NJ pin Record and is an Eastern Michigan Alum.
The esteemed Coach regards Ethan as a “Beast, with a lot of potential in this sport as he grows.". Ethan was accompanied by his Mother and Grandmother as they proudly watched him reach All Americans Status with his fantastic finish.
