BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Bloomfield Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is kicking off the Summer of Fun with the Memorial Day parade this Monday, May 28. The parade will march south on Broad street to the reviewing stand on the Town Green in front of the Civic Center.

“I would like to thank all of the parade participants, and especially the Bloomfield Joint Memorial Committee, which has been working diligently on creating a great event for people of all ages,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “The parade will step off at 9:30am on the corner of Broad Street and Warren Street. I look forward to marching, and invite all Bloomfield residents to join us.”

“The Recreation Department is proud to arrange rides for Veterans who are unable to march. This is an important national holiday, and the veterans who have risked their lives for our country should be celebrated and accommodated in every way possible,” said Director of Recreation Michael Sceurman.

Anyone with a classic car is encouraged to participate and asked to email Director Sceurman at with the year, make and model of their car along with the owner’s name. Please send emails with “Memorial Day” as the subject matter.
