BLOOMFIELD, NJ  - As part of Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia's Turkey Giveaway, many township residents and families received free turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday.

In total, the initiative distributed turkeys to over 669 residents, including 230 families during the the Giveaway held on Sunday at the Bloomfield Municipal Complex. Several local businesses and residents donated to help make Mayor Venezia's Turkey Giveaway possible, including Shop Rite which made a substantial contribution. 

“We are proud to support our fellow Bloomfield residents and help them celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday through the Turkey Giveaway initiative,” said Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia. “Bloomfield will celebrate Thanksgiving the best way we know how, by helping hundreds of residents, families and neighbors be able to have a warm Thanksgiving meal together.”

While the Mayor’s Turkey Giveaway provided the bulk of the turkeys distributed, the Township also collaborates with numerous community partners who count on Human Services to screen and refer residents to other programs. These include the  Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, Sacred Heart, Nanina’s in the Park, New Light Baptist Church and Park United Methodist Church.             

In total, approximately 1,059 Bloomfield Residents will be served during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
