BLOOMFIELD, NJ- Mac Adley-Hyppolite, Jr., known by locals as just Mac, is being recognized by the Bloomfield Mayor and Council on February 24th at 7 pm. This will be done during a celebration of Bloomfield's Black History.
Mac is a Bloomfield resident who is known to ride his bike around town (and much further) with his signature helmet mounted camera and his willingness to stop and take a photo with new and old friends that he sees along his travels.
While Mac is often seen around Bloomfield, he has biked over 3000 miles across the United States raising money for children's charities. He's biked to California as well as Florida and always starts off in Bloomfield.
A 1997 graduate of Bloomfield High School, Mac has remained an active member of the community. Most recently, he organized a successful community block party event at Clark's Pond South.
Not resting on his laurels, Mac is currently planning a European bike tour through England and Ireland for charity. "Forward is the movement for the children. I may not know what is out there but I know that I have got to go" said Mac. He told TAPinto that he is currently mapping out his final route starting in Petersborough and ending in Dublin.
All proceeds will go to St. Jude, a favorite of Mac's. "I'm truly grateful to my hometown of Bloomfield and the residents. A town where love, support and assistance originated from to help our future, the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital."
The meeting honoring Mac will take place on February 24, 2020 at 7 pm in the township of Bloomfield Council Chambers.
