BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The following police blotter has been issued by Lt. Anthony Sisco of the Bloomfield Police Department.
3/28/18- Jose Rivera Age 54 of Bloomfield, NJ- Officers on routine patrol at Home Depot (60 Orange St) were waved down by Loss Prevention of a shoplifter they have detained. The suspect, who is known to store loss prevention as a repetitive Shoplifter, was observed concealing a three-line laser ($279.00 value) in his jacket. Suspect was placed under arrest, processed and charged with shoplifting. He was then placed into cell block awaiting transport to E.C. Jail.
3/29/18- Rhett, Ellis Age 53 of East Orange, NJ- Officers dispatched to the Dollar Tree (135 Bloomfield Ave) on a shoplifter detained at the store. An employee observed the suspect conceal several various cleaning product items (32.00 value) down his pants, then attempt to exit store without purchasing them. Suspect was placed under arrest, processed and charged with shoplifting. Prisoner was released with a pending court date.
3/28/18- A Hoover Avenue resident came to the Police Desk to make a Theft Report. Complainant reports that money is missing from her personal checking account and suspects that the former home health aide who assisted with financial matters is taking the money. Approximately $1,000 is missing from the account. Incident is under investigation.
3/28/18- Officers dispatched to the 10 block of Edison St. on a report of a Theft. Complainant arranged on social media to meet an individual to purchase an iPhone 8 plus ($650.00 value). When they met up, complainant handed over $650.00 in cash to an individual she describes as a black male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, receiving a sealed iPhone box which she believed contained an iPhone. When this individual received the cash, he immediately fled to a vehicle, then fled scene. The box did not contain an iPhone. Incident is under investigation.
3/31/18- Officers dispatched to Murdoch Shoe Store (623 Bloomfield Ave) on a report of a Theft. Complainant reports that their wallet was missing from the store yesterday (03/30/18), and later that day received a phone call that the wallet was located in a park in the City of Newark. After retrieving the wallet, discovered missing was cash and (2) credit cards. Store video surveillance revealed that a suspect described as an unknown male approx. 6’2, late 40’s stole the wallet. Incident is under investigation.
Theft from Auto:
3/30/18- Officers dispatched to the 100 block of North 15th Street on a report of a Theft from Auto. Complainant parked his vehicle in the area of North 15th St and Abington Ave between the hours of 7:30 pm and 5:30 am. During that time frame, stolen from his vehicle was a backpack containing his driver’s license and working permits. Doors to vehicle were unlocked during time of incident. There were no signs of any forced entry. Incident is under Investigation.
4/1/18- Officers dispatched to the 10 block of Edison Street on a report of a Burglary. Complainant had returned to their residence from vacation discovering items missing from their child’s bedroom, (1) TV ($149.00 value), a PlayStation console ($299.00 value), and a video game cartridge ($50.00 value). Also, a credit card with an unknown name on it was located in the child’s room. No signs of any forced entry to the residence, Incident is under investigation.
3/27/18- Elijah Callahan Age 26 of Irvington, NJ- Officers on routine patrol in the area of JFK Drive performed a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result of record checking the driver, officers were alerted to outstanding warrants out of the jurisdictions of Irvington and Manalapan. The driver was placed under arrest, processed and released with new court dates.
3/30/18 – Franceria Moore Age 31 of Orange, NJ- Officers on routine patrol on Broad St near Belleville Ave performed a random plate inquiry on a vehicle, being alerted that there is an outstanding warrant out of the jurisdiction of Glen-Ridge for the registered owner. A motor vehicle stop was conducted where the driver was identified as the registered owner. Driver was placed under arrest, processed and released with a new court date.
3/31/18- Casady Hill Age 30 of Jersey City, NJ- Officers performing traffic enforcement in the area of Bloomfield Ave and Ampere Parkway stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. As a result of record checking the driver, officers were alerted to an outstanding warrant out of the jurisdiction of Nutley. The driver was placed under arrest, processed and released with a new court date.
