Bloomfield Police Blotter May 14 - 21


BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The following police blotter has been issued by Crime Analyst Ralph A.Marotti of the Bloomfield Police Department.


05/15/2017- A backpack containing several pieces of jewelry was reported stolen from a parked vehicle. The vehicle a 2008 Dodge Charger was parked overnight on Comley Place.

05/15/2017- Two side marker lights were reported stolen from a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. Home security cameras captured a dark colored vehicle with a male suspect. The suspect approached the Volkswagen and removed the lights. Police are actively investigating the theft.

05/15/2017- The Family Dollar Store located at 600 Bloomfield Avenue reported a Shoplifting incident. The actor fled the store on foot towards the Lackawanna Train Station. Police located the stolen merchandise in a backpack, which was abandoned on the platform. Police were unable to locate the suspect and are actively investigating the theft.

05/15/2017- A Weaver Avenue homeowner discovered a delivered package on the front lawn of her residence. The package was opened and the contents were missing.

05/16/2017- Side view mirrors were stolen from (2) BMW vehicles at the BMW Dealership located at 425 Bloomfield Avenue. The thefts are believed to have occurred overnight.

05/17/2017- A 2003 Nissan Maxima’s trunk and door were discovered open by a Parking Enforcement Employee. The vehicle was located in the lot at the intersection of Farrand Street and Ward Street. The interior of the vehicle was severely damaged with the radio missing. The registered owner also reported various tools, car battery charger and a car jack missing from the vehicle.

05/17/2017-Police were dispatched to Glenwood Avenue on a reported theft from a parked motor vehicle. The owner discovered her vehicle’s rear window broken. Missing from the vehicle are 2 IPods and a pair of Prada Sunglasses.

05/18/2017- Tiffany McLaren age 34 of Newark was arrested at 3:04pm and charged with Shoplifting. Home Depot Loss Prevention Officer observed Ms. McLaren attempt to exit the store with unpaid merchandise. She was detained until the arrival of police. 05/19/2017-Police were dispatched to a Broughton Avenue Apartment Building on a report of a package theft. The package was delivered by US Postal and secured inside a mailroom located inside the building. The owner went to pick up their package and discovered the packaged opened with a blouse missing.

05/20/2017- A bike was reported stolen from New Street. The bicycle described as a silver BMX was left against a telephone pole in front of the owners home. The theft occurred at approximately 1:00pm. 


05/17/2017- A resident of Fontaine Avenue left her residence for approximately 20 minutes. Upon her return home she discovered the back door unlocked. A window in the rear of the home was also discovered open with a garbage can laying on the lawn possibly used to gain entry through the window. No items reported missing. Police actively investigating incident.

05/17/2017- A residence on Merkel Drive was burglarized between the hours of 7:30am and 8:15pm. The homeowner discovered the exterior sliding door open with visible pry marks on the door frame. No items reported missing at the time of report. Police actively investigating incident.

05/20/2017- Police were dispatched to a Myrtle Street residence on a suspected burglary. The homeowner reported leaving his house at 7pm and returning at 11:45pm discovering his microwave missing from the kitchen. Home security video captured a black male inside his home walking into the kitchen. The suspect entered through an unlocked screen door. Police are reviewing the video and actively investigating the incident.

Warrant Arrest

05/18/2017- Tanisha Lindsey age 26 of Newark was arrested at 10:22pm for an active warrant issued by Hillsborough. Police were dispatched to Osborne Street on a report of a female trespassing inside a building. Police located the female later identified as Ms. Lindsey inside the building. Ms. Lindsey was transported to police headquarters. She was issued a new court date and released.

Motor Vehicle Theft

05/16/2017- A 2013 BMW Motorcycle was reported stolen from New Street. The motorcycle was last seen parked in front of the owner’s residence at 10:00pm.


05/16/2017- Devante Coleman age 22 of Long Branch NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS. Members of the Anti-crime Unit were checking a suspicious vehicle parked on Locust Avenue. The officers detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the open sun roof. The passenger identified as Mr. Coleman was found to be in possession of a prescription bottle filled with suspected marijuana. Mr. Coleman also admitted to smoking the marijuana. He was charged with Possession of CDS and issued a summons with a pending court date.

05/18/2017- Christopher Dockery age 42 of Belleville was arrested at 7:02pm after police recovered 27 glassine envelopes containing suspected heroin and tin foil folded up containing cocaine. Police observed Mr. Dockery riding a bicycle west on Bloomfield Avenue without an audible device. A stop was initiated which resulted in his arrest. Mr. Dockery also had 2 active warrants issued by Glen Ridge. He was charged with 2 counts of Possession of CDS.

05/21/2017- At approximately 11:43pm Officers were in the area of 142 Broughton Avenue enforcing parking violations. Officers observed a Nissan Sentra traveling at a high rate of speed north on Broughton Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was initiated, which led to the discovery of suspected marijuana. Officers detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The CDS was discovered inside a bag on the driver side floor. The driver a 17 year old male was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. He was later released to a guardian. 


05/15/2017- Damon Woods age 21 of Montclair NJ was arrested and charged with Robbery. The 21 year old male victim was robbed of his money and cell phone on 05/15/2017. The incident occurred inside a garage in the area of Park Avenue. The victim and suspect were waiting for mutual friends to return from the store, when Mr. Woods placed an object, which victim believed to be a gun and demanded the money and phone. Mr. Woods then fled the area on foot. Detectives assigned to the investigation were able to identify Mr. Woods issuing a warrant for his arrest. Damon Woods was arrested on 05/23/2017 by Montclair Police. He is presently being detained at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
