BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The following police blotter has been issued by Lt. Anthony Sisco of the Bloomfield Police Department.
Shoplifting: 5/14/18- Officers were dispatched to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on a report of a shoplifting. The complainant reported that an unknown Hispanic male entered the establishment and headed towards the cosmetic aisle. He proceeded to fill a blue bag with items and fled the store without paying. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, wearing a blue hooded shirt, beige khaki shorts, white sneakers, black glasses, and had facial hair. A search of the area was conducted for the suspect with negative results. This incident is under investigation.
5/16/18- Miguel Collazo Age 27 of Belleville, NJ- Officers were dispatched to 8 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on a report of a Shoplifter in custody. A male suspect was observed placing a pair of shoes and several shirts into a white plastic bag. He was confronted by Loss Prevention while attempting to exit store without purchasing the items. Mr. Collazo as placed under arrest, transported to HQ, charged with shoplifting, processed and transferred to Nutley PD for an outstanding warrant.
5/20/18- Timothy Jenkins Age 52 of Newark, NJ- Officers were dispatched to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on a report of a shoplifting. Loss Prevention Manager approached a male who placed items in his personal belongings and attempted to leave the store. The items were 20 Advil Bottles, and 10 Tylenol Bottles, valued at $192.74. Mr. Jenkins was arrested, transported to HQ, charged with shoplifting, and released with a pending court date.
Theft: 5/15/18- Officers were on patrol at 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples Parking Lot) and were approached by a male who reports his bicycle was stolen. Complainant stated his bicycle was in the hallways of his doctor’s office for 15 to 20 minutes and when he returned later he discovered it was missing. The bicycle is described as a black and silver mountain bike valued at $230.00. This incident is under investigation.
5/17/18- An Officer was dispatched to Hazlewood Road on a report of a Theft. The complainant observed that his catalytic converter on his vehicle was stolen. The converter is valued at $600.00. The complainant reports it was possibly taken on Tuesday May 15. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
5/14/18- Officers were dispatched to 491 Bloomfield Avenue (Exxon Gas Station) on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The operator of the vehicle left the car unattended and running while he entered the store of the gas station. An unknown male wearing a gray hoodie and pants jumped in and drove away. The driver’s school documents, work uniform, I-phone 6s rose gold with black case, $30.00 in cash, NJ driver’s license and wallet were in the vehicle. The vehicle is a 2004 Silver Toyota Corolla with NJ registration U38DJT. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
5/16/18- An Officer was dispatched to Spruce Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The owner of the vehicle reported that when he returned home on May 15, 2018 at 7:00 pm, he parked his vehicle in front of his home. On May 16, 2018 when he went to his vehicle, he noticed it was missing. The vehicle is a 1998 Acura Integra NJ Registration M16JSD. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
5/16/18- Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Broad Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant reports that she received a call from Sea Breeze auto shop about her car being ready to be picked up. When she arrived at the auto shop, the car was not located. Store employees were able to play surveillance video which captured an unknown African American male, 6’0 tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers. The suspect entered the vehicle and fled north on Broad St. The vehicle is a 2012 Honda Odyssey NJ Registration H65AUT. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
5/18/18- Officers were dispatched to 203 Bloomfield Avenue (The Bar) on an attempt auto theft. The complainant reports that he parked his work vehicle in front of the establishment on May 17, 2018 at 10:15 pm. On May 18, 2018 at 5:40 pm when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered that his engine was running and the ignition was damaged with parts on the floor. Surveillance cameras were located with an image of the suspect. The suspect is described as 5’8-5’9, 200 lbs, wearing a black ski mask, and black gloves. This incident is under investigation. Warrant Arrest:
5/14/18- Padmini Tulsee Age 23 of Newark, NJ- An officer was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle traveling on Ampere Parkway with tinted windows. The officer randomly entered the vehicle’s registration through INFO COP. Info cop alerted the officer that the driver had a warrant out of Bloomfield. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the identity was confirmed as the registered owner. The driver was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, posted bail and released without incident.
5/19/18- Jerry Howard Age 47 of South Orange, NJ- Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Bloomfield Ave with tinted windows and swerving over the double yellow lines. A MV Stop was conducted and the license plate was run through a mobile data terminal which alerted the officers that the registered owner had a warrant out of Bridgewater. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was positively identified. Mr. Howard was arrested, transported to HQ, and released with a new court date.
