2/12/2020- Anthony Maldonado Age 37 of Belleville, NJ- Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a shoplifting. The LP officer observed Mr. Maldonado place 3 hair/cosmetic items in his coat and attempted to walk out of the store without paying. He was detained by Loss Prevention with all items in his possession. Upon police arrival, Mr. Maldonado was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, and released with a pending court date. The items valued at $146.00 were returned to Stop & Shop.
2/15/2020- Ronald Lomack Age 57 of Bloomfield, NJ- An officer responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifter in custody. The LP officer observed Mr. Lomack take a Dewalt power drill out of the package and place it in his pants. He then attempted to leave the store without paying. Mr. Lomack was stopped and detained by Loss Prevention. Upon police arrival he was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, and released with a pending court date. The drill valued at $99.00 was returned to Home Depot
2/11/2020- An officer on patrol in the area of Abington Avenue observed a vehicle sitting on concrete blocks. All four rims and tires were missing. The vehicle owner last saw her vehicle on 2/10/2020 between 7:30-8:00 p.m. The tires and rims are valued at $2,000.00. This incident is under investigation.
2/11/2020- An officer responded to Washington Street on report of a Theft. The complainant left her grey coat on top of a chair on her porch. When she returned to retrieve the coat, it was not where she left it. The coat is valued at $250.00. This incident is under investigation.
2/14/2020- An officer was dispatched to Bloomfield Avenue on report of a Theft. The complainant observed that 100 feet of copper cable valued at $1,000.00 was taken from the PSE&G substation. A barb wire fence located in the back of the yard was cut which is believed to be the point of entry.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
2/13/2020- An officer responded to Oakridge Road on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The vehicle owner started his car to warm up in his driveway. He went into the house for 10 minutes and looked outside and the vehicle was gone. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. The vehicle is described as a 2017 grey Acura SUV, NJ registration W50HNB. The vehicle was recovered later in the day in Newark.
2/14/2020- Officers responded to Park Street on report of a Burglary. The resident left her apartment on 2/14/2020 at 7:30 a.m. She arrived home at 6:45 p.m. the same day and observed forced entry to her apartment door. The apartment was ransacked, doors were open and taken from the apartment was $500.00 in cash. This incident is under investigation.
2/12/2020- Nabeel Muhammad Age 21 of Newark, NJ- An officer on patrol in the area of North 16th Street observed a vehicle and conducted a random plate inquiry check. The officer was alerted that the registered owner of the vehicle was suspended. A MV Stop was conducted and the vehicle was approached and advised the reason for the stop. The driver along with 2 passengers all provided proper credentials. A record check was conducted and Mr. Muhammad had an outstanding warrant out of East Orange. Mr. Muhammad was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, and released with a new court date.
