Shoplifting: 12/20/19- Tamerra Herd Age 32 of Newark, NJ- An officer responded to 8 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a shoplifting. The LP officer observed Ms. Herd enter the establishment and place items in 3 tote bags. She then attempted to leave without paying. Ms. Herd was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, and transported to ECCF. All proceeds valued at $739.00 were returned to the store.

Package Theft: 12/16/19- Vance Rouse Age 50 of Bloomfield, NJ- An officer on patrol in the area of North 15th Street observed a male carrying a blue and black duffle bag. Several minutes later, the same male was observed carrying packages. The suspect was approached and questioned with the packages in his possession. The packages were checked and came back to different addresses. Mr. Rouse was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with theft, and has a pending court date.

Motor Vehicle Theft: 12/16/19- An officer responded to Bolten Place on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The vehicle owner left her vehicle running in her driveway with the keys inside and doors unlocked to warm up. She returned to the vehicle fifteen minutes later and the vehicle was not there. The complainants HP laptop valued at $400.00, her I Phone 7 $200.00, a grey purse, green wallet, NJ drivers license, and other cards were all in the vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 2013 grey 4 door Hyundai NJ registration Z97JRB. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.

12/17/19- An officer was dispatched to Sylvan Road on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant was warming her car up in the driveway with the engine running, keys in the vehicle and the doors unlocked. She went back in the home and observed her car leaving her driveway heading towards Lindbergh Boulevard. The vehicle is described as a 2015 white 4 door KIA NJ registration V30LBN. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. 

12/20/19- An officer responded to Broad Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The vehicle owner parked her vehicle in front of 1025 Broad Street with the engine running and keys in the vehicle. When she returned, the vehicle was missing. The complainant’s purse and multiple valuables were in the vehicle. The vehicle is described as a white 2018 4 door Mercedes Benz, NJ Registration E66JPX. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. 

Burglary: 12/17/19- Officers responded to Parkview Drive on a Burglary report. The homeowner left his home at 9:00 a.m. When he returned at 2:30 p.m., he observed his front door unlocked and the bedrooms were rummaged through. Missing from the home is a Kindle notepad valued at $129.00 and an IPad valued at $200.00. There were no signs of forced entry observed to the home and the complainant believes the suspect(s) entered through the open garage door. This incident is under investigation.

12/19/19- An officer was dispatched to Monroe Place on a Burglary report. The resident left his apartment at 1:30 p.m. and returned at 9:30 p.m. and observed his door damaged and forced open. He noticed multiple articles of clothing, coats, and shoes missing, 2 woman’s coats valued at $400, an ice cream maker valued at $75, a pair of Timberland boots valued at $100, and a play station valued at $100. All items taken are valued at $5,975.00. This incident is under investigation. 

Robbery: 12/17/19- Officers responded to Broad Street on a report of an Armed Robbery. The male victim and his wife were waiting for the bus at Broad Street and Hoover Avenue. They were approached by two armed African American male suspects that both pointed black handguns at them and demanded their belongings. The suspects took multiple items including wallets, an IPhone 7 Plus, cash, house keys, debit cards, credit cards, identification cards, and driver’s licenses. The items taken are valued at $320.00. Suspect descriptions: Suspect 1 is a 5’5”, stocky built, black male, round features, medium complexion, ripped jeans, wearing hoodie and a ski mask, gun in right hand. Suspect 2 is a black male, darker complexion, 5’7”, thin/athletic build, track pants, black shoes, gun in right hand, wearing hoodie and ski mask. Suspect vehicle: 2017-2020 INFINITI QX60, white. This vehicle is believed to be stolen.
