5/18/2020-An officer took a telephone report of a shoplifting incident that occurred at 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens). The night shift supervisor observed a Caucasian male enter the store at approximately 8:00 p.m. and leave with an unknown amount of Ensure milk. Approximately 10-15 minutes later the same suspect went back to the store and took an unknown amount of Muscle milk and left the store without paying. This incident is under investigation. 

 Suspect description: Caucasian male wearing blue jeans, black colored hooded sweatshirt and a blue color shoulder bag.

5/21/2020-An officer was dispatched to 72 Bloomfield Avenue (Sunoco Gas Station) on report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The cashier observed an African American male enter the store with an African American female. As the female was talking to the cashier, the male concealed a black short sleeve shirt in his pants and fled the store on foot heading east on Bloomfield Avenue. The shirt is valued at $5.00. Suspect description: African American male 35-40 years old, 6'0, and thin build, wearing blue pants, blue jacket and a green hat. 

5/28/2020- Officers responded to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite Wine & Liquor) on report of a shoplifting. One male and two females entered the store and took three "Duse" bottles valued at $53.00 each and one bottle of cognac valued at $43.00. They left the store without paying and entered a black vehicle. The complainant advised the suspects to stop, but they continued to walk out and drove off in a vehicle that was parked across the street. The liquor taken is valued at $202.00. The vehicle used by the suspects appears to be a grey BMW X4 with New York plates. Suspect description: One African American male, about 5'9”, slim build, late twenties wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jacket over hooded sweatshirt. 2 African American females: One female approximately 5'5", slim build was dressed in all black loose clothing, red over size purse, Second female was approximately 5'7", medium build with an oversize leopard print sweater. 


5/23/2020-Angel, Ng-Tavares age 23 of Newark, NJ-Officers responded to 357 Broad Street (Quick Chek) on report of a shoplifting. The assistant manager observed a male suspect take a box of cereal, a couple of drinks and other items and ran out of the store without paying. The items taken are valued at $15.00. The suspect has shoplifted multiple times in the past. The surrounding area was checked with negative results. This incident is under investigation. 

Suspect description: light skinned mail, wearing a red bandana, camouflage jacket, striped shirt, ripped jeans, dark sunglasses. The suspect had a half shaved head and arrived on a skateboard (see picture). 

Theft from Auto 

5/18/2020-An officer took a telephone report of a theft from auto from a resident on Rutan Place. On 05/17/2020 between 7:30 p.m. and 05/18/2020 7:15 p.m. someone entered the resident’s vehicle that was parked in her driveway through an unlocked door. The suspect stole a black leather purse/wallet with $10.00 in change. The resident’s second vehicle was also parked in the driveway and it was entered via an unlocked door and change might have been taken. There was no forced entry observed to their vehicles. 

5/23/2020-A resident from Berkeley Heights Park contacted the Police desk to report a theft from auto. His vehicle was parked in the driveway between the hours of midnight on May 22, 2020 and 1:45a.m. May 23, 2020 when he noticed the vehicle was rummaged through. The vehicle was left unlocked and $188.00 in cash was missing from the interior of the vehicle. This incident is under investigation. 

Package Theft: 

5/18/2020-An officer took a telephone report of a package theft that occurred on 05/12/2020. On 05/12/2020 at 4:33 p.m. FedEx delivered an 8 inch Focal Monitor Speaker valued at $455.18 to her home on Glenwood Avenue. The complainant never received the delivery. This incident is under investigation. 

5/21/2020-A resident from Bloomfield Avenue spoke to an officer to report a Theft. On 05/21/2020 at 11:00 a.m. someone stole an Amazon package from the front of his home. This theft was captured by a Ring Video System. There were two items in the Amazon package, one flashlight valued at $100.00 and vitamins valued at $25.00. This incident is under investigation. Suspect description: African American male, approximately 40 years old, 200 pounds, 5'10”, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
