Shoplifting:

09/05/2020- Officers responded to 131 Bloomfield Avenue (Sally’s Beauty) on report of a shoplifting incident. The store manager observed a younger Hispanic male walk into the store and grab two flat irons and fled the store without paying. The flat irons are valued at $157.00. This incident is under investigation. A picture of the suspect is included.

 

09/06/2020- Officers responded to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite Liquors) on report of a shoplifting incident. The store manager observed a Hispanic female enter the store wearing a grey shirt and blue pants. The female then grabbed two bottles of Johnny Walker gold valued at $132.00 and fled the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.

Theft:

09/01/2020-Officers responded to 26 Bloomfield Avenue (Laundry Zone) on report of theft. The complainant reports that her clothes from dryer 112 were stolen sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on 9/1/2020. 

09/04/2020-An officer took a report of a stolen bicycle that occurred on 08/27/2020 at 357 Broad Street (Quick Check). A resident reported that his sons Huffy bicycle was stolen by a Caucasian male wearing a red hat and red shirt. The bicycle is valued at $600.00. This incident is under investigation. 

Theft from Autos:

09/02/2020-An officer received a phone report from a resident of East Almira Street. The resident reports that her vehicle was parked overnight and an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole numerous items valued at $30.00. This incident is under investigation. 

09/03/2020-Officers responded to the area of Smith Street on report of a theft from auto. The complainant parked his vehicle on 9/3/2020 at midnight. When he returned at 6:00 a.m. the vehicle was rummaged through. There was no forced entry to the vehicle, and the vehicle was left unlocked. Taken from the vehicle was approximately $400.00 cash, a debit card and air pods. This incident is under investigation. 

Burglary:

08/31/2020-Officers responded to the area of 186 Newark Ave on report of juveniles attempting to gain entry into unlocked motor vehicles. Patrol officers located and charged several juveniles with attempt burglary. 

09/02/2020-Officers responded to Conger Street on report of a burglary that occurred between August 20, 2020 and September 3, 2020. The resident noticed the back door was slightly ajar and it appeared that the door was pried open. A safe was taken from the residence. This incident is under investigation.

These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
