Shoplifting:

07/20/2020-Clarence Miller age 39 of Newark NJ-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Ave (CVS) on a shoplifting incident that just occurred. CVS employee observed an African American male take numerous soaps and deodorants and fled the store towards Lackawanna Plaza. Patrol units were given a description of the suspect and located Mr. Miller with all the proceeds in his possession. Mr. Miller was arrested, issued a summons and has a pending court date. 

07/21/2020-Edil Hernandez Torres age 45 of Newark NJ-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Ave (CVS) on a shoplifting incident that just occurred. Loss Prevention observed a Hispanic male conceal electric razors and fled the store without paying. Patrol units located and apprehended Mr. Torres. He was charged with shoplifting and given a court date.

07/22/2020-An officer received a call from Modell’s located at 244 Bloomfield Avenue on report of a shoplifting incident that occurred. The manager stated that an unknown African American female and a child walked into the store attempting to return items. The items could not be returned at the time. The suspect then walked over to the sneaker area and took a pair of blue Adidas Cue Star Flo's and departed the store without paying for the sneakers. The sneakers are valued at $70.00. This incident is under investigation. 

Modell’s’ suspect is described as an African American female, heavy set, wearing black sleeveless shirt and black pants, white baseball hat. 

07/22/2020-An officer received a call from the Walgreens located at 77 Bloomfield Avenue. The manager reported that a Hispanic male entered the store and placed numerous make-up items into a plastic bag and fled the store without paying. The make-up is valued at $200.00. This incident is under investigation. See picture of the suspect below. 

07/22/2020-Officers responded to 370 Broad Street (Cordes Liquor) on a report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The owner of the store stated that an African American female reached behind the counter and grabbed a book of lottery tickets. The owner was able to get the tickets back from the suspect before she left the store. This incident is under investigation. 

Theft from Auto 

07/20/2020-An officer took a telephone report of a theft from vehicle from an Ivanhoe Terrace resident. Someone entered the resident’s vehicle between 7/18/2020 and 7/20/2020. The vehicle was left unlocked and items taken are prescription glasses, IPod Touch and a Mag light. The items are valued at $960.00. This incident is under investigation. 

07/26/2020-Officers responded to an Irving Terrace residence on report of a burglary into his vehicle. The owner parked her unlocked vehicle on 7/25/2020 until 7/26/2020. When she came back to the vehicle it was entered by an unknown suspect who stole spare change from inside. This incident is under investigation. 

Package Theft: 

07/21/2020-Bloomfield Police Desk Officer took a report of a package theft that occurred in the area of James Street. On 7/15/2020 the resident had a HP Lap top delivered to her residence and when she went to retrieve the package, the package was gone. This incident is under investigation. 

07/24/2020-an officer received a call from a Patton Drive resident on report of a package theft. Complainant stated that at 1:15 p.m. on 7/24/2020 he had a package delivered from Costco (Lenovo Lap Top). When he returned home at 9:00 p.m., the package was stolen from his front steps. This incident is under investigation. 

Theft: 

07/24/2020-Officers responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-11) on report of a stolen bicycle. The complainant rode his bicycle to the 7-11, went into the store and when he returned he observed an African American male age 15-18 riding away towards Ampere Parkway with his bike. This incident is under investigation. 

Motor Vehicle Theft: 

07/25/2020-Officers responded to a Darling Avenue residence on report of a stolen vehicle. The resident parked his vehicle in his driveway at 9:00 p.m. and was notified that his vehicle was involved in an accident in the Township of Montville. Unknown suspects stole the vehicle and it was recovered by Montville PD. This incident is under investigation at this time. 

Robbery: 

07/22/2020-Officers responded to 220 Hoover Ave (Gerard’s Deli) on report of an Armed Robbery. On 7/22/2020 at 6:00 p.m., an African American male entered the store carrying a shotgun and threatened the employee for his money. The suspect hit the employee over the head with the shotgun and then fled the store in a black Jeep Cherokee being operated by another male suspect who was the driver. This incident is under investigation.

These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
