Shoplifting: 

07/29/2020- Vance Rouse age 50 of Bloomfield NJ-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a shoplifting. Officers entered the store and observed Mr. Rouse drop a bag of proceeds that he concealed items in. Mr. Rouse was apprehended and charged with shoplifting and was released with a pending court date. 

08/01/2020-Officers responded to 10 Franklin Street (Children’s Place) on report of a shoplifting. The manager observed an African American female wearing a blonde wig, pink shirt and blue jeans take numerous pieces of clothing valued at $120.00 and left the store without paying for the merchandise. This incident is under investigation.

08/02/2020-Nathaniel Peterson age 53 of Kearny NJ-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. The Loss Prevention manager observed Mr. Peterson place a Makita Saw valued at $529.00 into a shopping cart and walk out of the Home Depot without paying. Patrol Officers apprehended Mr. Peterson, who was charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date. The saw was recovered and returned to Home Depot. 

Theft: 

07/27/2020-Officers responded to the area of Conger Street and Lackawanna Plaza on report of a theft. The victim had $40.00 cash stolen from his back pack. The back pack was left on his bicycle when he went into a store at 250 Glenwood Avenue. Patrol officers located and identified three juveniles and they were arrested for the theft of money. The juveniles were released to their parents. 

07/29/2020-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a theft. The complainant observed an African American male take her cart with her Nautica wallet on the top rack and walked away. The wallet contained approximately $1000.00 in cash. This incident is under investigation. A picture of the suspect is below. 

07/30/2020-An officer took a theft report from a Hobson Street resident. The resident observed juveniles steal her NJ License plates from the front and back of her vehicle. The incident was captured on her Ring Door Bell. This incident is under investigation. 

07/31/2020- A Bloomfield Police desk officer took a report of a package theft that occurred at Evergreen Avenue. An African American male entered onto his front porch wearing a blue jacket, grey pants and beige hat. This male stole his package containing items valued at $70.00. This incident is under investigation. 

07/31/2020-Officers responded to Linden Avenue on report of a theft. The resident stated that two Hispanic males entered his backyard at 12:00 p.m. and stole copper wire valued at $300.00. The suspects were possibly driving a dark color Ford SUV. This incident is under investigation. See pictures below.

Theft from Auto 

07/27/2020-Officers responded to Stonehouse Road on several reports of theft from vehicles that occurred overnight. Residents parked their vehicle on 7/26/2020 in the evening and when they returned on the morning of 7/27/2020, their vehicles were rummaged through and numerous items were missing. These incidents are under investigation. 

07/27/2020-Officers responded to the area of Glenfield Road on report of a theft from vehicle. The resident parked the vehicle on 7/26/2020 in the evening hours. When he returned on the morning of 7/27/2020, the vehicle was rummaged through and the garage door opener was missing. This incident is under investigation. 

07/30/2020-Officers responded to the area of Spring Street on report of a theft from motor vehicle. The resident parked his vehicle at 6:00 p.m. on 7/29/2020 on East Almira Street. On 7/30/2020 at 08:00 a.m. the resident observed that someone entered his vehicle. There were numerous power tools taken from the vehicle valued at $1000.00. This incident is under investigation. 

08/01/2020-An Officer took a report of a theft from auto from a Franklin Street resident. The resident’s vehicle, a 2019 Nissan Frontier, was entered overnight between the hours of 0230-0330 hours. The vehicle was left unlocked and his Microsoft Surface Pro laptop valued at $1000.00 was taken. This incident is under investigation. 

Motor Vehicle Theft: 

07/27/2020-Officers responded to the area of Stonehouse Rd on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The resident parked his vehicle earlier in the evening on 7/26/2020 and when he woke up on 7/27/2020, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. 

07/31/2020-Officers responded to Glenwood Avenue on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner parked his 2011 Dodge Charger on 7/30/2020. When he went to his vehicle on 7/31/2020, the vehicle was not where he parked it. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. 

08/02/2020- Officers responded to Ashland Avenue on report of a stolen vehicle. The owner parked his vehicle at 8:30 p.m. on 8/1/2020. He was advised by police on 8/2/2020 that his vehicle was recovered. This incident is under investigation. 

Burglary: 

07/27/2020-Officers responded to Arlington Ave and MacArthur Ave on a report of burglary into three construction trailers. The foreman of Arlington Developers stated that between the dates of 7/24/2020 and the morning of 7/27/2020, someone cut the padlocks and screens to all three trailers and took numerous tools inside. The tools are valued at approximately $830.00. This incident is under investigation.

These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
