BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Bloomfield Police Department will host a swearing-in and promotion ceremony this Friday, January 26, from 6:00-7:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle School, 50 Byrd Avenue.

During this event, 14 new Bloomfield Police Officers will be sworn in, and 10 members of the Bloomfield Police Department will receive promotions. Captain Sean Schwindt of the Administration Bureau will be promoted to Deputy Chief of Police.

This is the first time the department is staffing the rank of Deputy Chief since 2005. The event will feature remarks by Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio, Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia and Bloomfield Township Administrator Matthew Watkins. The promoted officers will be present along with family and friends. Light refreshments will follow the ceremony.
