BLOOMFIELD, NJ - On Wednesday, March 14, the Women’s March Youth EMPOWER is organizing a National School Walkout. According to the national march website, the walkout is for 17 minutes at 10 a.m. "to protest Congress’ inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods... and to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship."

Students at Bloomfield High School have planned to join the movement, which honors the 17 victims who tragically lost their lives in the parkland Florida school shooting. The "walk out" at BHS is student led and organized.

TAPinto Bloomfield is the only locally owned news organization in the township. TAPinto Bloomfield is accredited by the New Jersey Press Association.
