TRENTON, NJ — There’s nothing better on a warm summer day that a fresh cold Jersey tomato with a little salt or a handful of blueberries taken right from the bowl. But if you are also creative with Jersey Fresh produce, here is your chance to share it with your fellow New Jerseyans.
The state Department of Agriculture has kicked off its 2017 Jersey Freshcipes contest for the best recipes using Jersey Fresh produce as a main ingredient.
Recipe entries must include a name for the dish, a brief description, the ingredients, preparation instructions and a photo of the finished recipe. There is no limit to how many times a person can enter.
Weekly winners will be highlighted on the Jersey Fresh Facebook page and on the Jersey Fresh website, as well as a grand prize winner at the end of the contest.
“The Jersey Freschipes contest is a great way for those who like cooking to share the many ways our wonderful produce can be enjoyed,” state Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher said. “We appreciate all who participate and your ongoing support of all who grow and harvest Jersey Fresh produce. We urge people to show us how much they love Jersey Fresh food with the personal touch of their own recipe.”
