LEXINGTON, Ky. — Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin are among the recipients of the 2018 Land Rover/USEF eventing competition grants.
Dutton, of West Grove Pa. received a grant to compete at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials CCI4* taking place May 2-6, in Gloucestershire, England: He will ride Fernhill Cubalawn, a 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Thomas A. Tierney, Simon Roosevelt, and Caroline Moran. Joining Dutton will be Lauren Kieffer, of The Plains, Va. with Team Rebecca, LLC’s Veronica, a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare.
As the national champion of the 2017 The Dutta Corp./USEF CCI3*, Will Coleman, of Charlottesville, Va. will utilize his prize of one free, round-trip flight to Europe from The Dutta Corp. to take Four Star Eventing Group’s OBOS O’Reilly, a 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, to compete at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.

Dutton also received funding for the Luhmühlen CCI4* presented by DHL taking place June 14-17, in Salzhausen, Germany. He will take Revelation Group’s Fernhill Revelation, a 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding. Boyd Martin, of Cochranville, Pa. with Shamwari 4 Syndicate LLC’s Shamwari 4, a 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding will receive partial funding.
Funding is only considered upon receipt of an application. Land Rover funding can be revoked at any time should a combination suffer a loss of current form and/or performance, or if veterinary concerns are found regarding a horse. Prior to departure, all horses will be evaluated for soundness by a USEF-approved veterinarian.
