SUMMIT, NJ - The first Summit Farmers Market 'Sunday Funday' contest of the year, the 'Blueberry Muffin Contest', will be served up fresh July 9. Amateur bakers are invited to bring their best blueberry muffins to the Summit Farmers Market by 10:45 a.m.
Muffins will be judged on their flavor, texture, and appearance. After being judged, the muffins be available for sampling by the public. Entrants must bring one dozen muffins, which must be made from scratch; no canned ingredients or mixes allowed. Entrants must bring a copy of their recipe to the contest with them. The winners will receive Fun Money to be spent at the market. To register for the first 'Sunday Funday' of the season, visit summitfarmersmarket.com.
While pre-registration is encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. Judging begins at 11 a.m..
'Sunday Fundays' continue with a Salsa Contest on September 10, Pumpkin Painting on October 29, and Pumpkin / Sweet Potato Pie Contest on November 12.
The Summit Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. through November 19. The market is located in Park and Shop Lot No. 2, at the corner of DeForest Avenue and Maple Street. All downtown parking is free on Sundays, with parking available on-street, in Park and Shop Lots 1 and 3, and the K Lot, located behind CVS off Maple Street.
