MORRISTOWN, NJ - Smoke was seen billowing from the rooftop of George and Martha's American Grille on Thursday afternoon. 

More manpower was requested and crews from Morristown Fire Department, Morris Plains Fire Department, New Vernon Fire and Rescue,  and Morris County Support Services responded. The Atlantic Health Ambulance Squad was on the scene as well.

Initial reports state that a 2nd alarm fire was reported in the kitchen and duct work of the restaurant, located at 67-71 Morris Street. Initially Morris Street, between Spring Street and Pine were shut down to motor vehicle traffic. Morristown Police officers expanded the perimeter, thus diverting motorists up Elm Street.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.
