BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Columbia football team extended its undefeated record with a 34-6 victory over Bloomfield on Friday night.
Junior halfback Michael Caines rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns for the Cougars (3-0). Junior quarterback Nick Aaron threw a touchdown pass to Kai Arrington.
Joseph Holdbrook gained 68 yards on six carries in the victory, as Columbia piled up more than 260 yards on the ground overall.
On defense, the Cougars recovered four fumbles, including two fumble recoveries by Bernilton Mercier. Justin Anderson and Jahqiel St. Claire also recovered fumbles. Anderson also made a sack and Joseph Holdbrook was in on 13 tackles.
Rejuvenated Columbia has a big home date next Friday against West Orange at 7 p.m.
